The most egregious offenders could be banned from the exchange. People who didn't stick to the rules (the next update suddenly had 100 years pass without explanation, for example, or who heavily edited other cities) would be banned from that region. You could download just the changed city, which would let you both play simultaneously (we're talking on the scale of days here), but neither would see what the other did until you quit, updated their file, and reloaded, and you risked not having the neighbor connections properly set upĪlternatively, you could both play the same city, simulating alternating political parties winning the election.

Once the next popup appears called 'CAMERA'. If you dont start the tutorial, then it wont work. You must click the Okay button to start the tutorial in order to skip it. The tutorial city will load, and a welcome message popup will show in the lower corner. The person playing the other city would then, similarly, reserve, download the region, play, and reupload. Click the Getting Started button on the home screen.

To play,, you would 'reserve' a city to edit (that is, simply write a post saying which city you were going to play), download the region in its current state so your local files were up-to-date, play for the agreed-upon time (no one really enforced it) then upload it back and say you were done with it.

When Maxis still existed, they had a server called the exchange you could upload your region to.
